Yonkers High School Reviews

I'm currently enrolling in YHS and I have to say its been a great experience so far. The school offers a great IB program, which allows students to take classes at at a moe rigorous level. Although some of the IB classes tend to give an immense amount of work, in the end its only helping students become better scholars for the future. And due to the many great professors that teach at YHS, students are able to understand work with a better perspective. Overall, YHS is the way to go if you want to become the best you can be.

We are an IB school and have some of the brightest students in all of Westchester.

We've won high rankings in US World & News and Newsweek Magazine in the top 100 of top public high schools in America. Out of the 6 public high schools in Yonkers, and many other schools in Westchester, Yonkers High School was the best. Our school is enthusiastic and a positive place to learn.

The students are very unique and there are some amazing teachers

My school is #1 in the whole of Westchester County. We are an International Baccalaureate school and we take so much pride in what we do. We are highly competitive and we work very hard. We came out ranked in 37, of 21,069 public high schools in the 48 states.

A very good school, where most teachers care.

Yonkers High is hands down the best school in Yonkers. The curriculum is very rigorous but the hard work can definitely pay off. I graduated in 2004 and I entered college with 18 college credits because of the IB program. The teachers at YHS are truly dedicated to their profession. They really prepared me for life ahead. Now, as I enter start my graduate studies, I could not be more grateful for having such a great high school experience which has prepared me for life ahead. This school is not for everybody! Only a select few can survive the pressure. But the experience is worth it and it will last a lifetime. I would recommend this school to anyone who has a thirst for learning.

i believe that Yonkers High School is the best school in Yonkers. As a student i believe that we have diversity among cultures and we all are some what bright.

As a former student, I would say that Yonkers High School is hands down the best in the city, and in fact, one of the best in Westchester County. The International Baccalaureate Programme, which I was a full participant in, greatly helped with the success I am experiencing in college. The courses were on a college level, the teachers were very involved and caring, and the classmates, who are from lots of different backgrounds, are like a second family. Overall, I'd give the school five out of five stars because it was like a second home to me for about 5 years.

Hands down the best school in the district. Their classes are diverse and challenges the students thoroughly. Their curriculum prepares the pupil for college with the IB diploma programme. Truly a wonderful school, great architecture and my kids love it there.

Now in 2007 Yonkers IB has made it's mark as an extraordinary high school in this district. Last week Newsweek posted it's annual 1300 top High Schools in the country and YHS is ranked 186 beating out several of Westchester's 'elite' schools! Virtually all graduates go on to the college of their choice and I was impressed to see that so many of them made it into their school as 'early acceptance'. When I recently visited my daughter in school I saw the seniors' letters on display down a very long hall in the school. It is quite a sight to see. Kudos to the students, faculty and administration for their continued devotion to excellence. It truly has become a public school with a private school education.

It is a great school with amazing equitment for the students. It is though crowded and not the best place for some student. It is a great school but you have to think twice befor you sing up. It is rough but the academics is good. If your child can stay consentrated and not get distracted by the many others. There are so many after school activites rangeing from footballl to track to math leads. Parent are generaly involed one way or another. But parent must be willing to talk and come in to have a meeting. Overall it is a good school for some but be careful because it is not for all.

My daughter goes to this school and loves it.

The staff at Yonkers High School is completely dedicated to providing a rigorous academic program for our students. 21 out of 26 of our IB Diploma candidates obtained the IB Diploma in 2005. Each year the number of students enrolled in the IB Program increases. We look forward to continued success!

My daughter presently goes to Yonkers HIgh School! I think that school is the best school in Yonkers! It is very organized, its adminstrators pay close attention to the students, and the school is a small community which enables students to know each better. Yonkers High School is a school full of great, friendly students and teachers! They even require students to keep an 85 average. This school is like a free private school. I recommend this school to everyone who is ready to work hard in school.

I have 2 children who attending this school. One graduated in 2004. The school has implemented an Int'l Baccalaureate Program; as a result, student's are exposed to a challenging course of study. Racially, the student body is like the United Nations, which was a welcome component to their learning experience. Generally, I was pleased with the education my children received here. One drawback to the I.B. Program however, is that there are a small number of teachers bent on making themselves appear to be an integral part of the program's success; often, at the expense of student's esteem and learning. Rather than assist the student in doing well in a program, they readily recommend and in fact, insist that the student to drop a course, so as not to interfere with the teacher's success rate. Aside from this, I highly recommend enrollment at Yonkers Middle and H.S.
